IMMERSIVE & TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEYS INTO PSYCHE
Picture

Psychodramatic Journeys are 3–6 hour experiences that guides you into deep states of insight, emotional release, and self-exploration — all without psychedelics. The process involves structured, embodied role-play, where your personal stories turn into an interactive map that can be played with and modified. From allies to ancestors, family members to romantic affairs, archetypes to inner parts, deepest trauma to our loftiest dreams, your life is played out like a living theater which can be enacted, examined, and transformed.

These journeys are most often offered in Portland, Oregon (my home base), though I also regularly spend time in New York City and occasionally in Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington DC, Asheville, and Berlin — and I welcome invitations to facilitate journeys in other locations as well.
Intake Call

The process begins with a brief intake form, followed by a complimentary 30-minute consultation. In this call, we will review the structure and flow of the journey, clarify your intentions or areas of focus, and address any questions or concerns about the process. From there, we will discuss rates and determine the most suitable setting for your session. Whenever possible, I recommend holding journeys in the client’s home, as the familiar environment offers a sense of comfort and safety that supports a deeper immersion into the psyche. Alternative locations can be arranged if needed.

The Day Of:

Each journey follows a carefully designed arc:
  • Arrival & Orientation — Setting intentions, establishing trust, and creating a safe container
  • Opening the Space — Warm-ups designed to heighten spontaneity and engagement
  • The Enactment — Engaging in guided, embodied exploration where you inhabit roles, confront patterns, and experiment with change
  • Return & Integration — Grounding insights and experiences into your life after the journey

Who Participates?

These journeys are for those seeking a deeper, more embodied exploration of one's psyche than typical talk therapy provides. It is for those who want to expose their troublesome patterns, gain distance, insight and love towards them. Or those who want to embody and map out possibilities in their lives to gain direction and clarity. It is for those who want to speak to deceased relatives, talk to ex-lovers, re-navigate childhood traumas, or imagine into new seemingly impossible horizons. It is for the curious seekers who want to try out a new modality for self-exploration. It is for those who might be scared of the lack of control psychedelics provide, but who are still enticed by the depth afforded through entheogenic encounters. It is for anyone devoted to the mystery of psyche, invested in exploring the depths of one's inner landscape. No prior acting or theatre experience is required.

Afterwards

The journey doesn’t end when the session ends. Things keep unfolding — sometimes as fresh perspective, sometimes as unexpected emotional releases, sometimes as subtle changes in how you carry yourself, perhaps new roles and archetypes that once felt marginalized are now owned and empowered. To help ground this, I offer an integration call where we take time to reflect and give shape to whatever is still moving.
What is Psychodrama?

Psychodrama is an action method (developed in the 1920s by Jacob Moreno in Vienna) in which participants use spontaneous dramatization, role playing, and dramatic self-presentation to engage a situation or encounter. Psychodramas are typically enacted with a group, whereby a director guides a participant (or “protagonist”) through a dramatic exploration of their psyche. Scenes of the past, present or future, conflicts and resolutions, and/or dynamics between inner parts, are all expressed through gesture, sound, movement and words and then mapped in physical space as participants (or “auxiliaries”) stand-in for parts or internalized others.

The core method of psychodrama involves role reversals, whereby the protagonist oscillates dynamically between the roles in whatever scene they are exploring, thereby empathizing with their wild totality through interactive dialogue. Directors typically guide a scene to not only repeat and reveal dynamics, but also modify them, allowing trauma to be re-negotiated through the power of our collective imaginations. A typical psychodrama lasts anywhere from 30-120 minutes.

For our psychodramatic journeys I have adapted psychodramatic method to work within a one-on-one context whereby the Protagonist (or client) will play all the parts, and I will act as a director moving you into various roles and inner parts. I also borrow techniques and methodologies from: Process Oriented Psychology, Internal Family Systems, Voice Dialogue, and Non Violent Communication.
